Last week Canada won the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers American Region Finals Tournament, which took place in Bermuda, and advanced to the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. The champions won five out of six of their matches in the tournament, one match being cancelled due to rain. Coming in second was Bermuda, who won four matches, two against USA and two against Cayman Islands and USA came in third, winning two matches against Cayman Islands.
Final standing was: 1st Place: Canada 2nd Place: Bermuda
3rd Place: USA
4th Place: Cayman Islands
Despite coming in fourth, this was an epic milestone for the Cayman Cricket team. Local team player, Luke Harrington-Myers won Man of the Match! An incredible honour for the Cayman Islands Cricket team. Congratulations Luke!
Both Canada and Bermuda have advanced to the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Global Qualifier which is set to take place in the months of October and November. The list of teams to play in the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, taking place in the United Arab Emirates are: Scotland, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Ireland, Oman, UAE, PNG, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Jersey, Singapore, Canada and Bermuda.
These matches will determine which teams will qualify for the ICC T20 World Cup Tournament, set to take place in Australia next year.
